Suzie Berry
PFT Financial Secretary
Suzanne Berry has been a PFT Executive Board member since 2014 and is currently serving as Financial Secretary. Berry joined the PFT on the day she signed her contract with Pittsburgh Public Schools, and began her service as a PFT assistant Building Representative at Frick ISA, soon becoming the PFT Main Building Representative and remains so. She has been a member of various committees through her work with the union including the RISE pilot committee, the Common Board advisory committee and others. She fights for effective leadership in the PFT.
She began her teaching career in 1993 at Margaret Milliones Middle School and Letsche High School, before moving to Frick International Studies Academy in 1994. She has remained with the International Studies program as it developed to encompass the International Baccalaureate World Programme for middle years and the Diploma Programme for grades 11 and 12, and Frick ISA merged with Schenley High School to become the Barack Obama Academy of International Studies. She has taught grades 6 through 8 math, Algebra and Geometry, and currently teaches 11th and 12th grade Math Studies.
She has served as Math Instructional Teacher Leader (ITL) since her time at Frick and has served on the school’s Instructional Cabinet, Discipline Committee, PBIS Committee, SIP Committee, and was the TLC Liaison for a number of years. She has worked with students on the school’s Energy Committee, led the work with the Western PA Conservancy to plant a garden on the Frick grounds, and worked closely with colleagues in planning and implementing various student activities.
