Linda Voytko
CCEU Endorsed Candidate for PFT Professional-Supportive Group Representative
In 2002, Voytko became Board employed working at Milliones directing the Alternative Education Program at Milliones (2002-2006) until Milliones closed its doors. She then became the school social worker at Faison Intermediate from 2006-2011 where she served as assistant PFT building representative. She has been a member of the PFT Executive Board since 2011.
Voytko is currently the school social worker at Sunnyside K-8. In addition to being an Executive Board member, her active participation in the union is extensive. She was a Strike Picket Captain and helped organize the strike activities prior to the 2018 settlement which averted a strike. Linda is a member of the PFT's Labor Day Parade Committee and participates in the parade every year. She was a Teaching and Learning Environment Student Service Liaison (TLE Committee), member of the PFT K-8 Grassroots Committee, PSE Grassroots Committee, and chair of the PFT Student Service Grassroots Committee. She was a member of the Student Service RISE Committee.
Linda Voytko participates in union member outreach via phone banking and assisting with mailings. She is a union activist protesting for fair wages, equal pay for women, and educational funding.
Prior to signing on with the Board of Education, Linda Voytko was an independent contractor for the Pittsburgh School District. As a contractor she assisted with the district assessments approved private school (APS) placements for students and ran small therapeutic groups with McNaugher students. During this time she was also a director for Glade Run Lutheran Services in which one of her responsibilities was supervising all of the Glade Run therapeutic classrooms in the district.
Voytko is a graduate of St. Augustine’s Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. She holds a BA in Psychology from Cleveland State University, her MSW from the University of Pittsburgh, and her LCSW since 1996. She is also dual certified in Gerontology and Addictions Counseling. Prior to entering education she worked in various community and private Mental Health and Mental Retardation (MH/MR) agencies/companies. Currently she also has a private practice and is the director of Glade Run’s Therapeutic Summer Camp in Zelienople.
Voytko has also been involved in many community projects to include: Habitat for Humanity building homes, the EECM food bank and Meals on Wheels programs, served as a team leader for the American Red Cross (ARC) Disaster Action Team (DAT) responding to disasters spanning a five county area (fire, flood, tornado, etc.), as well as the ARC DAT’s mental health liaison for all disasters including the attack of 9/11 in Somerset County. She also served in the Army as a Quartermaster officer from 1985-1997.
