Anna Tarka-DiNunzio
CCEU Endorsed Candidate for PFT Elementary Group Representative
Anna Tarka-DiNunzio is a long-time, dedicated union leader in the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers. She is known as a leader who is not afraid to be vocal for what is right and who advocates for fellow teachers and PPS students.
Ms. Tarka-DiNunzio has worked as a PFT Building Representative for more than 20 years and as a PFT Executive Board Elementary Group Representative since 2011. Over her career, she has tirelessly served our teachers in many ways, including:
Ms. Tarka-DiNunzio is a 1990 graduate of the Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from Georgetown University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Spanish. She earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of Pittsburgh, with a dual certification in Elementary Education and K-12 Spanish in 1998. At Pittsburgh Phillips Elementary School, Ms. Tarka-DiNunzio teaches in a self-contained second grade classroom and is the lead building representative in the building. Additionally, she serves as the only ITL for the entire staff. Ms. Tarka-DiNunzio was the winner of the 2017 Pittsburgh Public Schools Distinguished Alumni Educator Award.
In addition to her union work and professional responsibilities, Anna is happily married and the mother of two Pittsburgh Public Schools students.
